Princess Mary Adelaide may have been one of the most popular members of the royal family, warmly cheered by the public, but she wasn’t so successful in her search for a husband – until 1866 that is. Her intelligence, good looks and high-spirits were never in question, neither was her enormous physical size. She was known to the fashionable London Crowd as ‘Fat Mary’, described by the American Minister as being “very fat, very thick-set” and was reported to make the springs of the carriage groan as she entered it. She remained unmarried for ten years, despite numerous attempts, prompting Queen Victoria to describe her as “looking old – and not thinner”. But that all changed when she married Prince Franz of Peck within a few months of meeting him in 1866, moving into their new apartments at Kensington Palace a few mpnths later. Queen Victoria was kinder in her description of him, “very gentlemanlike and certainly very good-looking”.

and she didnt have to kiss any frogs, just marry a ‘handsome’ prince, pity there are so few left in the world

I like the idea behind this, someone is being very modern in their interpretation and i wish them the very best

Why care what you look like? it sure helps to please the eye but it’s what’s INSIDE that really counts!

If you truely love someone; you share trust and a bond that will see you threw anything; I know because I have been with my husband for over 28 years and we are still madly in love with each other and this reflects in having a warm, close, family ;)
